Perhaps I've missed something but I was under the impression that Ford stopped building the original Rangers in 2011 and not 2012??
I'm pretty sure Mazda stopped building their B series trucks way before 2011....
last. One came off St. Paul MN assembly line in December 2011 as a 2011 model for orkin pest control. No 2012 in United States. St. Paul MN plant shut down after last ranger rolled off line.

Exactly what I thought - I love the "Twin Cities" assembly plant decals on the rear windows. I just got a brand new one!!
As stated above, the final "old-style" Ford Ranger rolled off the line in December of 2011 and was sold to Orkin. Unfortunately, it has since been totaled due to an accident although I can't find where I read that. It's also worth noting that apparently, "a short 2012 model run was produced for fleet sales." I do think that probably the final batch of trucks made were probably considered 2012s for the model year, but I also am not entirely sure how they're referred to in literature. Either way, none were actually built in the calendar year of 2012, and even if some of the final trucks were nominally 2012s, they would have been totally identical to the 2011s anyway.
