Exploring the idea. Have a 1996 F250 Powerstroke, SB, 4WD with a E4OD and Borg Warner 4407 transfer case. I have the opportunity to buy a 460 with a C6. I want to keep 4WD. Two ideas:
1. Install the 460 with the E4OD. What would I need to do this?
2. Use the C6 with the 460. However, I’m concerned with it having to adapt to the Borg Warner 4407 transfer case. What do I have to do to the C6 to make this happen?
I would prefer to use the C6 as I want to put in a manual valve body and floor shifter.
The diesel E4OD won't bolt to a 460.. different bolt pattern, so you don't have that option. And you should have a 4wd version of whatever trans you do use to directly mount a t-case, a 2wd version has to be completely dismantled to replace the output shaft. The 460 is well known as a pig on gas so finding a compatible E4OD would be the best option.
