Can anyone give me details on code 32 of my 87 Bronco. It only comes up as a continuous code and not during the engine run test or Key Off Key On test. I think it has something to do with the EGR posistion sensor on top of the EGR valve. The valve is working properly because I can see it move up a little during the engine run test. I also teed in my vacuum gauge and went driving, got plenty of vacuum during cruising speeds. Thanks.
It could be, but I know the EGR vacuum valve is working. It pulls vacuum during the Engine Running test and also while I am driving. Do you have a Ford description for that code?
To test the EGR you have to first unhook the IAC, then pull a vacuum to the EGR and if it's opening the engine will begin to stumble. Do this at idle speed. There should be no vacuum to it at idle from what I have read. Unhooking the IAC will prevent it from compensating for the air so it will act like a vacuum leak.
If the EGR sensor wasn't working, the Engine Run test would catch that because it trys to open the EGR valve during the test. I can see it open and I get good vacuum to the switch. The more I think about it maybe the sensor has a dead spot in it. I checked the resistance on it and its linear as can be.
That sensor is probably failing only part of the time. It,s plastic, sitting on top of a metal valve that has 1000 degree exhaust gas flowing thru it. I couldn,t begin to count how many I,ve replaced for exactly the same problem.
circledirt: did you also experience rough acceleration as if the timing was not advanced enough? My timing is dead on at 10 degrees BTDC and the only code that I get is code 32.
