Bed roll teardrops

For those that have used it will panel adhesive work to attach the bed roll teardrops onto a bed? I don't trust my welding abilities and the bodyshop will be asking for my bed parts next week sometime.

It's just a series of tack welds BJ..you can do ,then grind them, if there is any holes between your tacks just hit it again with a welder..do a few practices on some scrap. It's really not that hard..

I'm with John here. Really easy to weld. Lots of you tube videos if required. Or your body shop can do it.

Short answer, no. For panel adhesive to bond with any strength it needs a surface to bond to, it's not good at butt joints. You could make it work but the problem that I would have in using it for this application would be the durability of the finished edge once painted. I won't even use body filler on those edges...too easily chipped. Now panel adhesive IS a lot more durable than body filler but it is not as hard as steel on those 90 degree corners. If you don't feel comfortable doing the welding then let the shop do it or find someone local to you who could knock it out. I found a guy on CL who does really nice decorative welding and I go to him when I need aluminum or other parts like that welded.
