Just curious if LMC Truck is a good source. Seem to be good prices. Have any of you used them and are products received what you expected? Any input appreciated. Thanks.
A great source for a restoration. Prices are good on most products. Some quality issues on some parts, mostly interior, as with most aftermarket companies. I recently restored a '68 F100 SB, frame off at compatible prices. Compare prices and availability with Mac, Carpenter, etc. Good luck to you. The finish product (truck) is everything I wanted.
Don't buy any of your Rubber Products from LMC. Spend a little more and save yourself a lot of work. Just remember, you get what you pay for with most of these parts. I did get my door seals and window anti-rattle parts from MACs and some other stuff from Carpenter.
I have used a lot of LMC parts with good success but the only rubber I have ever bought from them (Fuel Filler Grommet) dry rotted and cracked within a year. As the others have said don't buy rubber from them. I did actually buy a vinyl floor kit and it's held up fine but it's only been three years.
My experience also.
You have to second-guess what products are all by the same manufacturer, and which ones are gonna be junk.
I bought my window channel runners and felts from LMC and they were fine.
And then some stuff is going to be cheapo.
I think all the vendors are getting to be the same way.
I have bought a handful of parts from LMC. I had a bad sending unit from them once. I got a saddle tank from them as well for my 70 f250 and its been in there since 1996. It still looks brand new. The only rubber I have purchased from them was a filler neck for the saddle tank and that went in the truck in 96 as well, still with no issues. Like mentioned above, some parts probably come from the same manufacturers and you will probably get something that turns out crappy from any one of them.
Thanks for all the input. When one company's prices are considerably lower than most others, it sort of sends up a flag. Will check out MAC and Carpenter and others.
I have used LMC for tailgate latch parts & windshield wiper arms, was happy with replacement parts. Very pleased with their customer service dept, very helpful, good online communication. All the companies have some issues, but I agree about rubber products.
I have bought junk from LMC, avoided their window/door seals. Window and door seals are a ‘permananent’ sort of thing so spend the $$ and buy Carpenter or quality in those areas so after a year they don’t turn to mush. A few years ago I recall Fordification’s operator took a job with LMC and he said at that time his priority would be to improve their rubber products, I don’t know if there has been any changes?? I had a LMC shifter boot disintegrate after a year.
Bought stuff from flashback f100, his stuff is quality, good guy to talk to. Don’t use the mickey mouse 1pc cab mounts from LMC. I did see LMC might have the carpenter style 2pc cab mounts. I have bought stuff from LMC that has carpenter stickers attached.
Remember you can find some stuff on feebay, I think I found that rubber firewall mat thingie for far less than the major suppliers that have slow and expensive shipping.
Maybe two decades ago I instigated the Ford dealer I was a parts man at buy both headlamp bezels off LMC. I could tell they came from Dennis_carpenter.com originally. I was to resell them to my customer in Australia. My customer told me to hold them here because their customer was going on a "walk about". No kidding. After 6 months they asked me to return them. LMC charged my dealership 20% restocking and we had to pay return freight. And LMC's price was higher than Dennis Carpenter's published price. I checked back then.
Many years later I bought a dash bezel from them. Again, it came in a Dennis Carpenter box. So while they may have some of their own unique items, I think they buy other company's parts and resell them for a profit. So the moral of my story, check all the company's price on the same part. The one who has a slightly cheaper price is probably the supplier for the rest. LMC'S rubber products not included in this statement.
