91' Nite with trouble...
I have a 91' F150 Nite and am having all kinds of trouble right now. I have 119K miles on it and the engine is knocking and pinging something awful when accelerating.
The problem was first noticed when I would slow down (coast down) for a toll booth. When I accelerated after the toll booth, the vehicle would violently start shaking and shimmying. Not sure if I have a timing problem or not.
For a while, at cruising speed (60 MPH), the truck would run fine. Lately, it is bucking and kicking even at cruising speed. Have had a friend say I'm losing a valve with these symptoms. Gosh I hope not. I don't want to put to much $$$ into fixing this prob.
Any ideas or opinions will be appreciaited!
THanks,
Andy
You may not believe this, but I am writing this response from Bangkok Thialand right now. I am... have been on a stinking business trip for the past two weeks and I will not be coming home to Florida until the 15th....
A little more info on my truck for you. I bought it in 95' with 50k miles on it. I wasn't crazy about the pink pin stripe running down the side of it, but it has been a great vehicle. With the problems that have been accumulating with on this car, my wife and I decided it is time to look for antoher vehicle. In the time I've been away from home, my wife (with help from her dad) has bought a 2000 Explorer XLT. I am anxious to get home and see what kind shape this new car is in...
With this new vehicle purchase, I will take me wifes car (98' chevy Lumina LTZ) which is a "family" car, but still somewhat of a rocket. I will be selling the truck and hope it serves the next owner as well as it has served me.
When i get home, I'll work on getting the truck running good so I can sell it. Thanks for the response and I'll be looking for more advice at that time.
Thanks again.
Andy
