Hey all, I have a 2017 F350 which has the style lug nut shown below, unfortunately I have one on my rear wheel that is just constantly spinning, any advice on removing it? I looked this issue up and it appear to be a common problem with a different style (doesn't have the "washer") of Ford OEM nut but I haven't seen much regarding this style.
Hopefully the stud is not stripped out. Check with your local tire shop, if the lug nut needs to be "split" to be removed they should have experience doing it. Last time I had do that, it was on a trailer wheel and it took a small grinder with a cut off wheel. Tedious at best. Good Luck .....

Thanks!
Is it just the SS cap on the lug that is spinning or the actual lug nut spinning?
If it is the lug nut itself spinning then you have a wheel stud issue.

The cap and the piece right below the cap are spinning but I don't believe the bottom piece is spinning.
Funny thing is I brought it to the dealer to have them do the rear brakes as I didn't want to fight with this lug nut issue, while also having some unrelated warranty work done. They came back and said they checked the brakes and they were fine and that they rotated the tires (which was not done).

I have a 2017 F-350 with the same issue. You can do it with a chisel and hammer to remove the cladding from around the lug nut. I found it easier to use a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel. I cut the end off the lug nut cladding and then cut a groove down two sides of the cladding.. Then use a chisel to spread the cladding out of the way enough to get ta 19mm socket on the lug nut inside the cladding. I did a lot of research on new lug nuts. All of them on Amazon had fit and rust issues so i ended up buying Gorilla lug nuts off of ebay for about $160. Part # is 61148FL. Dorman also make one but the cheapest I found them locally was $8.50 each. I think that part # is 611930.. I called McGard and was told they don't make a lug nut for my truck. Hope this helps.
As long as it's not the stud spinning, you can try to hammer on a smaller socket.
I tried that and it worked on a few but not on a couple. Problem is getting the socket off when ur finished. The cutoo wheel works well and only takes about a couple of minutes per lug.
I found the perfect solution. I peeled the cladding off the first 8 and it was a major Pain. Watch this video. Genius. It will remove the cladding in 10 seconds..

How do you determine the hole saw size? I have M14-1.5 lugs on my ‘24 F250 which require a 21mm socket. What hole saw size…a diameter that’s just wide enough to pass over lug nut cover?

Yep I would take ONE lug nut off, carry it into the hardware store, and find the hole saw size that just barely slides over the lug nut as shown in the video linked above.
I replaced all of mine with Dorman 611-930 M14-1.50 Wheel Nuts. These are a flanged 21mm hex and they are one piece, so no warping. I picked these up at my local NAPA store.
