Hey guys I have an 86 F-150 2wd single cab long bed. I’m having a problem with the lighting in the rear of the truck. Everything works fine until you have the lights on and use the turn signal or flashers, then the tail lights and license plate light go out but turn signals will work once lights are turned off. I’ve checked fuses and they were all good. I don’t know what else it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
It's a ground issue.
You need to check all grounds from battery on down to lights.
There is ground from battery to motor & frame.
One from motor to firewall in the engine bay..
Each head light and turn/ part light has grounds to each inner fender.
I think the 1 you are after is in the cab on the firewall by the radio.
I would also pull each rear light and bulbs to check and clean there too.

My son called me a couple of days ago with turn signal issues in his new 85 F250. I told him it's either a ground, another ground, or ALL of the grounds.
Also to check/clean bulb bases and sockets.
This link (which l just sent him) makes me look like l knew what l was talking about.
