Hello guys. I like to watch the videos of people that pull rusty hulks out of fields and barns and attempt to get them running again. More often than not the frames and body parts are rusted. I have a 1973 F100 that has some type of undercoating. I have inspected the underside very well and noticed no peeling, rust, bubbling or corrosion of any kind. And the undercoating looks like it may have been applied when new. Underneath the cab, bed and frame are beautiful. Did Ford apply a factory undercoating in October of 1972? That is the month and year my truck was manufactured. Thank you for your kind responses. Donald.
No they didn't. but it was a very popular dealer applied option all dealers pushed hard for you to buy. even here where rust isn't an issue they really pushed it.
They didn't roll off the assembly line with any undercoating, but as mentioned it was available through the dealerships.
Ziebart was the company that did most undercoating back then. https://www.ziebart.com/auto-care-se...ating-services
My '79 was done by Ziebart, 8 holes drilled around the perimeter of the door openings & 3 in the doors for the application, plus the entire underside. They did a fair job, but I could've done it better myself.
