Angry Hero to a ZERO

Got my 2003 6.0 bought back and got a new 2004 6.0( with 2003 parts).

Truck has been great since day one and tonight, 971 miles later....

Idles rough

Acts like it's missing

Sounding a miss at idle, you can hear it miss.

surges 600 to 1000 rpm

I was showing someone my new truck tonight and this happened. Embarrasing.

I have noticed a different type of knock in between knocks that the 2003 did not have. Don't know if that means anything.

Any clues would be nice.

That really sucks. Sounds like the PCM issues again or a sensor.

Man, I hate to say it , but when I replace this V10 in a couple of years, my next one might be a HO Cummins if this crap keeps up with the 6.0 as I will probably retire and buy a diesel for long trips.

I spoke to the area rep for ford today. He said to go get the new flash update and it will solve the problems. He said since the new flash, he has not had anyone come back and say it did not work.

6.0 diesel problem

I bought a New 2003 ford f-350 6.0 diesel 4x4 , I'm having the same problems your having. Had same comments from the factory rep. the new flashing of the prom will solve everything. The prom has been flash twice egr valve has been changed twice, fan clutch replace, oil sensors replace and its still having problem. After only having it for 4 month its being bought back. What an ordeal. dont get your hopes up on there quick fixes. Or there double talk.

I think I'll try chevy.

Had the same problem

Surf,

My truck started up one day after having no problems with it and acted like it was missing. It started out sporatic at first and ended up doing it all day one day. I ran right down to the dealer so they could diagnose istead of just telling me they couldn't locate the problem. I didn't even shut the truck off. They pulled it right into the shop and realized that the #1 & #4 cylinder injector wires were disconnected or pulling off and not connecting properly. They rerouted the injector wiring harness and I haven't had a problem since. Sorry I didn't see your post two days ago when you posted or I would have come forth with the information earlier.

Sounds like the same problem I had. Let me know if you had the same problem or if it was something else. Good luck!

Chris

Another thought

There was a post on this website http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/60bulletin.htm about the injector wiring harness chaffing on a bolt somewhere. If your injector wires are connected, the wire might have chaffed on something. I think that's why they rerouted my wiring harness.

Good luck! After some more time we as enthusiasts will know more about these engines than the techs at Ford

Re the wiring issue ..... I had my 04 PSD (04 motor) for eight days when it died on the highway. I was told at the dealership it was a chafed wiring harness that caused the problem. Apparently this is quite common. Since I've only had the truck back since Wednesday I'm not confident enough to say that all is okay now. Once a new vehicle dies on you, especially when your trade-in ran flawlessly for four years, your confidence level is fairly low. When it's running, it rocks.

vibration

Just bought a 2004 f-250 4x4 6.0 crew cab. Towed my 30ft. triple axel toy hauler for the first time today and experienced a violent vibration from 1800 to 3500 rpm on acceleration. It's kind of like a clutch chatter. It is so violent that I thought for sure something was going to explode. I'm dissapointed. I have spent $5,000 in the first week on wheels, lift, etc... What do I do now?
Any input will be helpful.
Joe

all the rep told me to do was to call the dealer and explain the conversation to the service manager, and go buy there and get the update at no charge, how nice.

I spoke with another guy that had his bought back and he was having problems with his second 6.0 and they flashed his and he said it all right now.

he did say they flashed all the trucks on the lot too.

my old 2003 6.0 is still on the lot, they flashed it too.

walking now

joe

bring you truck back to the dealer as soon as possible, and document the problem and mileage. then read up on lemon laws in your state. You have to protect you investment!

2003 F-350 4x4 lariat..... bought back by dealer after going through a long drawn out process with arbitration. but didn't loose to much because I document everything. Times, dates, people i talked with ect

but I have to say one thing, when the truck was running good, it was impressive. Its too bad it had all these problems.
