97 Spark Plug Blow Out

My brother and his friend are looking at a 97 F150 with the 300 in it. Supposedly it has a blown out spark plug. I know this is common on the Triton. What is the fix for this older engine though?

There are no 1997 150s out there with the inline 4.9L engine in the US, Canada or Mexico that I am aware of. The seller is mistaken if the truck is actually a 1997 model year F150 and has the 4.9L inline 6 cylinder engine.

A '97 could have a 4.2L V6 but not a 4.9L I6.

I'll have to look at it when they get it home tonight. The sellers dad informed my friend it had a blown plug and its a 300. But my brother and his friend that went to look at it said the plugs all seem intact and tight and it runs, so it could be fake news. To be fair the guy also told my friend it was '77 which is why I sent my brother to look at it, they wanted $100 and its my favorite color. It is not a 77 but is indeed the 93-97 body style. I already have a 96 with a 5.8 that im going to restore when I finish my 7.3 but for $100, they were interested in making the work truck for their wood business. It was essentially a big messed up game of telephone.

This is the animal in question. Looks like its set up slightly different than my 5.8 in my 96.

It is a 1995 or older F150. There are twin intake tubes therefore it is Speed Density that covers the 1995 and earlier models. I also see the OBD-I diagnostic test port by the driver side hood hinge. 1996 model year F150s would be OBD-II and MAF.

Plug could be 'freeze or frost plug' is it holding coolant?
Or, the sound of a 'blown spark plug' could be exhaust leak or air injection leak.
