Question trailer brake controller connection

I tapped into the brake pedal switch for the trigger on my new, after-market brake control unit. It works fine when the brake pedal is pushed. However, when I turn on the 4-way hazards, the brake controller is energized in unison with the flashing of the hazard lights. From trouble-shooting on my ’84 F-150 and a friend’s ’84 F-250, I measured 12 volts flashing at the “B” terminal of the brake pedal switch (defining terminal “A” as the always hot terminal and “B” is only hot when the brake pedal is depressed).

Have others had this problem, when wiring brake control units? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

there is a diode, or a one way street, that goes in between the brake light switch and the brake controler to stop that, shouldnt be more than a couple of dollars. some people just dont use the 4 ways and dont get them. the place were you got the controler should have them, and should know you needed it.
