2015 Bluetooth Dropping

I've an 2015 F150 with I think Sync 2. Everything used to work fine. But recently my cell phone loses it's connection with the headset. I've paired it with 3 different cell phones and the same thing keeps happening. Where do I need to start looking? Anyone else had this problem and what was your fix?

If it's never been reset in all these years and/or you bought it used, you should strongly consider resetting it. There is probably a lot of data taking up space. Clear it all out and try again by performing a reset. Who knows how many phones are sync'd, how many messages, call logs etc are stored. I clear all the data out of mine every 6 months or so. I never allow anyone else to sync to my truck for their convenience either.

I would add that I have had one or two instances where the bluetooth in our 2015 went kerfuffle. Trying to reset it via the console would not work. So I ended up pulling the fuse in the panel in the passenger footwell. I don't recall which fuse it was, but pulling it out for a few seconds, then re-inserting it fixed my bluetooth woes.

I tried JKBrad's idea first since it was the simplest. I checked to see how many phones were attached but only my current phone was listed. But, I tried the master reset anyway. I started the reset and went out for a walk and when I returned it was completed. I re-paired the Bluetooth connection to my phone (Samsung 21). I was able to listen to my podcasts on the short drive home. We will see if this simple fix continues to do the job. Thanks All.

This was the easiest of the two suggestions, so I tried it first. There was only one device listed as paired with the truck, but I did the Master Reset anyway. Then I re-paired my Samsung S21 to the head set. I've only driven it 10-15 minutes since, but it hasn't dropped the phone connection yet as I was listening to podcasts. So maybe ...

Good luck. Hopefully it will continue to function as designed. My 2015 Sync2 has been trouble free since new. Just realize that there isn’t much usable storage in these systems.

Mine, 2016, losses Bluetooth connection every now and then. I just pull the red 10 amp fuse let it sit for a minute, put it back and good to go. But this does happen every couple months, never sure why. And I've had this issue with 2 different phones now.

JKBrad, have you ever updated the firmware on your Sync 2? I went to the Ford website and as best as I can tell I'm running V5.5 (FPN = FR3T-14D544-AG). Based off of my VIN Ford gave me a download package for V5.11
But just loading the files on a USB stick, plugging it into the USB Port while in park (following Ford's instructions) didn't seem to do anything E.g. the FPN is unchanged.

I don’t fix what isn’t broken. Mine has never malfunctioned, so I won’t attempt an update until then. If that doesn’t work, I will replace it with an aftermarket item.
