When I did the front end on my truck the larger idler arm was the size I needed (97 150 4x4) I think it was 3.5 inches between the bolts. So the smaller size could be for 2wds
IMHO yes on the Ford Idler arm
However if your kit comes with a Moog arm use it and then replace with a Ford one a couple years down the road
The size of the shaft the bushings and the design is all more robust on the stock one
I know guys that have owned these trucks since 97 Navigators and the like some are on their 3rd and 4th idler arms
It starts wearing out the idler arm threads in the frame
I have some extra parts left over and one happens to be an idler arm for 2.48 " bolt pattern from Detroit Axle. Unused as I upgraded to a larger kit after I purchased this one by itself. If interested let me know, this is still sealed in box. :
There are two different versions of idler arm for these vehicles. This kit provides an idler arm with a 2.48" bolt pattern. Please consult with your mechanic to verify which specific bolt pattern you have BEFORE purchasing! Thanks for the offer but I’ve already got the parts, just waiting for the shocks (went with KYB for the rebate) and time to put everything together. Turn signal lense fell off so now I’m also going to replace all of the front end lighting to the lightning style headlights as well. Hopefully all of this gets done in a single day.
Much appreciated. I’ve helped a friend change their upper and lower control arms on his 4Runner, this ain’t a Toyota so it’ll be a little more straightforward haha
