Customer Satisfaction Program 21M01

Anyone else get this letter from Ford? It appears Ford is extending the 18M01 Reductant Heater Failures that covered the 11-15 model years to include all the 2015-2016's as well with this 21M01. My Google Fu didn't find anything on this and wondering how many model years are included in this program.

Customer Satisfaction Program 21M01
Although your vehicle's diesel exhaust fluid system is likely functioning fine, we are pleased to let you know that Ford Motor Company is extending the warranty coverage on the reductant heater and sender assembly.

If the reductant heater and sender assembly fails, the "Service Engine Soon" warning indicator will illuminate (shown on the left) and in some cases the engine may go into a reduced power operating mode.

This program increases the reductant heater and sender warranty coverage to a total of 11 years or 120,000 miles from the warranty start date, whichever occurs first. If your vehicle has already exceeded either time or mileage limits listed above, this extended warranty coverage will last through July 31, 2022. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.

If your vehicle's heater and sender assembly requires service, or replacement and your vehicle is within the indicated time/mileage limitations, Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to repair or replace the reductant heater and sender assembly free of charge (parts and labor).

2013-2016 build dates 04/14/2012 to 07/03/2016.

I couldn't find the correct PDF name to query one of Ford's documentation web servers but you can read the DTCs in this video.

Yes, I did just yesterday as a matter of fact. Funny thing is mine failed a month ago, and I had it replaced under my ESP. Cost me $100 deductible then. It would be nice to recoup that, but not worth the headache for me.

I have not received a letter but I'll assume here that I will. I had my DEF heater fail sometime ago and replaced under the ESP plan with the $100 deductible as well.

Thanks for the video Kper. I watch Arods video on occasion I must have missed that one.

My heater failed last fall as well, replaced it myself and per the letter - no out of network repair reimbursements. At least if it fails again within the next 54k for me I could take it in on Fords dime.

Maybe Ford learned the reimbursement offering of 18M01 was far more costly than was anticipated due to possible higher failure rate than known, for owners who managed to tolerate the process. Even with providing the necessary documentation the first time in person, that was an aggravating overall process involving 60+ days, two phone calls that I remember, an e-mail, two round trips to the dealer of about two hours of driving and an unhelpful call to corporate customer service when the request was stalled. In my mind, this should have been simple.

Just got my letter today. It only extends coverage to July 31st, 2022. I'm still covered under my ESP until December 31st 2023. We'll see if she holds or goes by next December.

It's good for 11 years or 120k whichever occurs first. You are under both of those with your truck. Only those that are over 120k will be limited to the 7/31/22 end date.

In your case I would contact your dealer and ask.

Received my letter yesterday just after ordering parts, I called the dealership and tried to schedule the warranty work and was told that my F350 did not qualify because it was over by 10,000 miles. After reading the letter 3 more times, drove to the dealership and showed them the letter with the quote about vehicles that are over on mileage or time are still qualified until July 2022. He said that according to the letter, I was right and it qualified for the work. I am scheduled in and hopefully no cost to me. 👍

its amazing how little the dealers know when it comes to recalls and satisfaction programs. It's good you took that letter to the dealer, as customers we should not have to go through that kind of crap.

Mine as well, I am going to try to get my $100 back. Probably a headache, but being retired, I have all.kinds of time. Besides, I'm kinda cheap that way.
