Perimeter Plus Security System
Perimeter Plus Security System
I have an early March build date for my 2022 F250 -7.3. Has anyone added the aftermarket Perimeter Plus (motion) Security System? Was it worth it? Any other suggestions for an aftermarket security (alarm) system? Thanks.
I have it on my 22 lariat, its just a shock sensor. the truck already had an alarm from the factory but now if you hit the truck or the glass it will set off the alarm.
Got my 2019 set-up the way I want and trying to replace it would be a pain so I went with a Ravelco system. Not the cheapest but they won't be able to steal it. Break in yes but the truck already has the intrusion alarm I just don't want to come out in the morning and it be gone.
Hard to replace stuff nowadays unless you don't mind waiting and waiting.

In addition to the shock sensor Perimeter Plus adds remote start capability to the stock key fob. Lock-Unlock-Lock to remote start/stop the truck. That was the main reason I added it. Purchased with points and a 15 minute install, made it an easy decision for me.
Thanks!

Am I correct in the placement of the VSS module? That the VSS interconnect cable goes behind the display (FDIM) and is connected to the Gateway Module? Or as one of the pictures depicts, behind the OBDII connector?
Sorry if I am over complicating this, just don't want to break a new truck!

The gateway module is under the dash below the steering wheel. I has the OBDII port on it. The VSS can go anywhere in the area. I attached mine to the sheet metal stiffener on the trim piece below the steering wheel. Most people just zip tie to somewhere nearby under the dash.

Appreciate the info. I searched under the dash near the OBDII connector and didn't find the GWM. and the truck has Sync 4. So as JHForman812 says: behind the display.
Attempting to get service at Ford do the install. They can't seem to get a time slot that coincides with my availability. May have to install myself. Any problems with pulling the display? Am I correct in the procedure is to pop the bezel around the display then remove the display?

Dash disassembly goes like this
1. Remove the center speaker grille(it just pops off)
2. remove the 2 7mm screws holding the center speaker/tray in
3. dead center on the back side of the bezel is another 7mm screw, remove it
4 pop the bezel off and undo all the connectors
5. remove screen
6. remove apim
7. then youll have access to the GWM to hook it up. I mounted my shock sensor down above my right foot up in the dash. this is a pretty easy job and i wouldnt pay a dealer to do it.
Programming it can be a pain to get into but once youre in its easy enough. if you have factory remote start already ignore all the crap about the installation/setup of the remote start its not needed.
you have to get this part number for the alarm ML3Z-19A361-A if you have sync4 which you said you have.

I do have the ML3Z-19A361-A part. Should be good to go.
I'll read the instructions on programming again. Shouldn't be too difficult to do.
Great thread! I know where my sync 4 gateway module is now.
Does anyone have a pinout for this sync 4 gateway module? I'm trying to find the ms-can wires to tap my canbus snooper so that I can trigger my light bar with highbeams.
