transmission speed sensor location

Went to autozone the speed sensor they had I cant find anyware on my trans. The sensor they had is 4 1/2 inches long, it has a female 2 prong plug and a turnable shaft on the other end. the bracket to hold it in has one hole. On the side of my trans above the shift linkage there is a sensor that has a 2 wire plug. I unhooked this plug and ran my codes and I still have code 639. I think this is the right one. Any help would be greatly appreaciated

You don't have that sensor - that's an '87-92 speedo cable speed sensor (Vehicle Speed Sensor).

The speed sensor on a '95 is at the rear axle. The one on the shift linkage is for the backup lamps.
