79 f100 axle code
the tag on my axle reads wdm cl 3hd on the top line and the bottom line reads 2 75 9 357a. now im understanding the 2:75 gear i believe. but if thats so why do i get 10.5 miles to the gallon on a new 302 and c-6? could this be all wrong? or havs it been re geared kinda like my trans swap?

The tag says 2:75, so that is a reasonable assumption. Do you know if the ratio has been changed over the years by another owner but just left the tag on the pupkin? I have a 73 w/302 2bbl and 3 spd on the column and pull a whopping 13mpg on average. You carb setup and timing will also effect the mileage.

put a vacum gauge on it so you can see what's happening probablly to high a gear an the power valve is allways open or on the vergeof opening a big problem with early 70's fords especially with the 302 they'er kinda smogged to death and wimpy
