It was warm enough on Thursday and Friday to do some work on my 49. Thursday I put two coats of roll on bed liner on the bottom of my fenders. On Friday I was able to spray paint on the edge of my fenders and lower front fenders and any other parts that bolt together that don't get any paint on them when the truck gets painted when put back together. It's finally time to hang the fenders for the last time. I plan on coating the bottom of the new running boards with the bed liner and also on the top side. It has took years to get to this point.
Parts look great. Congratulations! Putting them back on the truck should be very satisfying for you after long years of waiting. Good luck. I had some issues installing fenders, running boards, and hood--and needed a little help and encouragement from the experts here. Most people don't though, and I'm sure you'll do fine. With your newly reconditioned parts installed, will your truck be ready to drive?
Thank You both. Yes, after paint and glass it is ready to drive. I have bucket seats in it and just need some chrome parts and make a console then it is finally finished.
Glad to see that you are taking the attention to detail to address the factory shortcoming of doing what you can to prevent rust/corrosion by applying bed liner to the backside of the sheet metal. Someone many lifetimes from now will be posthumously thanking you.
Thank you. That is what I was thinking too. I did install a 12 volt windshield wiper system in it after this picture was took. I also got all the interior put back in and the two consoles I made.
I installed a heater, including all the cables, ducts, and hoses but never completed the plumbing or electrical connections. Since most cold weather also means road salt, it will remain 'almost finished' during my ownership.
