I recently purchased a 1999 F-150 Supercab 4.2L V-6 5-speed manual. I'm equipped with Power Door Locks, Windows and Mirrors. My door locks won't operate using the door mounted switches (either side, either direction). I've read through the threads on this subject and pretty much come to the conclusion they'll need to be replaced. Question #1 - if I buy an aftermarket kit, is there a specific kit I should look for or will any kit do and will the kit also hook up to the door switches. Question #2 - does anyone have a good source for discount parts. Since I've only one key, I'm thinking to buy a kit that includes the actuators and remotes, do you think this is the best way to go?
From what I've seen of aftermarket door lock actuators I dont think they are worth buying.
I think I'd start by checking for power to the actuators while pressing the lock and unlock buttons. If all it needs is actuators I would just replace them.
