My truck is a '93 and I had to drill 6 holes in order to install my Class III receiver hitch (JC Whitney). I would be willing to bet that drilling WILL be involved on your older truck.
Had to drill 6 on my 93'. There was a weird size setup for a few year between the frame rails. It would only work if the framerails were 37-1/2" apart or so odd size like that. And it was for only certtain years.
Best thing I can suggest is to call REESE or Valley and tell them what ya got and then they can tell you what part # you'll be needing. You may end up with a universal or weld up kit.
