Holy missing options Batman!

Of course after picking up my truck in October, I get a $2000 PCO in the mail. Decide to build a truck online to see what the PCO does after all these price hikes.

Well the winch option is gone. Not the biggest deal since it is installed at dealer anyway and the average tech slaps it in there with no regard for fit and finish.

But then you get to interior options and at least half are gone. Biggest one for me? The upfitter switches and the trailer brake. Looked real quick to see if they just became standard and couldnt find that in the literature.

They are a monumental pain to add on to these trucks after the fact. This was an XL build btw.

Gratuitous unrelated pic of truck, cuz threads are lame without pics.

The website has been hosed for a couple days now...lots of comments on here about it.
Interested- did you receive that PCO in snail mail or email?
My fingers are crossed for one! New truck hopefully being built tomorrow (although I am sure I just jinxed myself)

It was “may or may not send in your ballot” mail. I will check to see if I got it via email too and it is lost in the spam.

My understanding is several manufacturers have started reserving their limited supplies of some (popular?) components for higher trim (more profitable) builds.

“Normally”, upfitter switches are standard on the Limited trim and optional on lower trims.

Similarly, the trailer brake controller is normally optional on the F-250 XL and the F-350 SRW XL, and standard on higher trim levels and on the F-350 DRW.

Yeah it makes sense to an extent, I woulda got the tremor package if they let you get it on an XL, so I could get a front limited slip under warranty.

But they wanted you to have first an XLT and later a Lariat or higher. O well.

But upfitters and trailer brakes need to be available on work trucks. Period.

Hopefully it is website bugs like mentioned above.

One thing I respected about Ram was they would sell you the meat and potato options of the power wagon on a tradesman for a couple years. Bureau of Land Management even bought some I believe.

Upfitter and trailer brake controller were two of the big reasons I switched to Ford from Chevy when I bought used.

According to my dealer its system wide. He tried to preview a dually option with the same options on my SRW and was unable to, they were not available in his ordering system.

agreed, not having trailer brake controller on a work truck trim 3/4 ton is some crazy stuff.

ram still allows you to order tradesman with the power wagon package, a dealer I talked to had one coming last month and it was a customer order for the 2022 model year. If my local dealer tries to play hardball with me with markup on my retail order f250 I’m going back to Ram now that the 2500 CCLB has a 50 gallon tank option.

This is happening industry wide. I went to a few car lots the other day to look at new inventory. At the gmc lot, for the hd pickups, they are also reducing available options requiring chips. From what I noticed, it was on all trims (low/high). However, it was listed on the monroney what was missing and was reduced by a laughable amount for the item. I did not confirm what it said online on the gmc build site, but I assume they tell you of the reduced item. Unlike ford with just removing it without any information provided.

GMs site in its own helpful tells you that after a certain date vehicles may or may not include items, if they were standard they are discounting it. As stated above I think you get $150 off for no heated/vented seats, $50no heated steering wheel.

Theres are a ton of option missing that I added to my XL. Upfiiter, brake control, bed lights, tailgate step, CHMSL camera, clearance lights, Rear defrost, Fwd collision, splash guards. I don't think I would have even bothered ordering mine if it was missing all of those option.

So is the website truly hosed up? Or is this the new normal?

I think the site isn't "messed up", I think that is a change they have made in how you can order. Different trim levels are showing different available options. If I pull up some saved builds I have in my account, the options I had on them don't show up in the summary, but the total price still the same as it was before. It's been this way since Tuesday, I think this is intentional.
