Interior fuse panel question?
I have a 1998 Ford Expedition XLT 4.6L with 240k miles.
I suspected that my GEM might be bad for a few reasons. I also am aware that there is a notorious issue with water getting into the GEM/fuse box. I decided to pull my GEM & fuse panel out to get a GEM part #, do an inspection for water damage, & try to determine where the water ingress point is so that issue can be addressed also.
When I pulled the GEM & fuse box out, I saw very little evidence that water has been getting into the fuse box. I checked all fuses & tested the 5 relays. I cleaned a cpl pins where the wire harness attaches to. everything looked good from a visual inspection. I opened the case on the GEM & didn't see any signs of water entry or fried components on the circuit board. I put it back together & put it back into my truck so I can test a few other things.
Now i have electrical problems - radio, instrument cluster light, main dome light, power windows, brake lights & turn signals don't work. I used a test light to start checking fuses & found a bunch of fuses not even getting power (2 in the 1st column, 4 in the next, & none in the 3rd column). the fuses themselves are good, just not getting power. I'm surprised my truck even started up.
Does this mean my fuse panel needs to be replaced?
Thank you for your help,
Corey
