Set me straight will ya?
A quick question for you guys...... What impact to performance will eliminating my catalytic (Spelling?) converter cause? Any? If there is a negative impact (other than the atmosphere) , is there adjustments that can be made to accomodate for this change?
BTW... I really enjoy this forum. I have gotten a tremendous amount of help and advise from you guys. Thanks for all the help.

Depending on model year, it can also make the computer go into "limp" mode all the time. The problem is it (the catalytic converter) creates a small amount of backpressure. It's not a lot but enough to make the oxygen sensor read correctly. If you remove it you run the risk of having the computer run the engine at "full rich" all the time. It will feel like it's running better when in all actuallity it's not. If you feel it's hindering the performance you can get direct replacement high flow cats for ~$200, and the ones I found the othe night included the "Y" pipe.

It shouldn't affect the operation of the O2 sensor, but I would not run without a cat anyway. It's illegal to run without a cat, no matter if they check for it or not. A good aftermarket cat won't sap any power.
