The inflation thing and supply thing are global phenomena primarily caused by covid and different country's response (or non-response) to it. When it finally becomes endemic we can eventually creep back to the new normal.

Wow. Your gas prices are a lot higher than mine here in the armpit of California. The closest gas station has a price of $4.159 for its cheapest regular. The Speedy gas station across from it is always 20 to 30 cents higher per gallon. And it amazes me how many people still go there instead of the Kwik station with the cheaper gas. I don't drive my vehicles enough to worry about it. The car has been sitting for three weeks, and the truck a little less than that. as a matter of fact, I got a roll of quarters from the bank yesterday so I can take the car to the local coin operated DIY car wash and get all the dirt rinsed off. Since the truck is dirt brown, it doesn't show up as much, so I usually just wipe it down with a rag or old washcloth.
White cows produce white milk, and brown cows produce brown milk. I thought everyone knew that.
One day past day old bread huh? Well, then I am in trouble, because I have bread in the freezer that has been there for months. even have one loaf in the fridge now that I finally finished off that free healthy bread, I got from my church's food drive.

Shipping is a global crisis. From when all the boats sat empty. To the empty containers being shipped to China. To the unpaid creditors who finance the operations. And then the shortage of qualified Merchant Marines. And we as Americans, are more concerned with ice fishing leading to prostitution.

Made a grocery run yesterday, and we decided we wanted to BBQ steak in the next few days. Wow, beef prices are through the roof. Got a couple of < 1 lb NY strip steaks, and the tab came to $50. What would they have to charge in a restaurant?

Los Angeles has a serious gang problem. Even gangs of deputies, in the Sheriff's Department. Just wondering if that's the only Sheriff's Department with their own gangs.

Happy Monday Everyone!

Today starts an interesting week in our household. The only bathroom is getting a full remodel and I have work deadlines on top of it. We shall see how it goes. Both the Bronco and 6.0 have some minor things to be fixed, but those cans have been kicked farther up the road for the time being.

We're not going to war. That much is clear. Of course, I guess the "Mother of all Sanctions" might be sort of a war.

Not only is it Monday, but it's Valentine's Monday. My SO and I plan to take a little trip to the coast today. Maybe get some fish & chips at Hazel's in Princeton.

Wowie. Our tax guy got back to me, and we're getting money back from both the feds and the state this year. Since we started getting social security, the FTB tax has dropped to near zero. This is the first year in my memory that we actually got money back from the feds. The two put together is not a huge chunk of money, but it's not chump change either.

Any money coming back is better than none. I don't file taxes since they don't take any out from my disability check. Although I should, if California is going to give out another $600 stimulus. Since the only way to get it is if I filed the previous year.

I'm just hoping for the best with the taxes. Last year I got a surprise "gotta write a check for another $20k" result when doing my taxes. I had expected about $5k. This year I hope I planned for it a little better, by having more withheld, and keeping some extra cash in checking just waiting for the tax man.

My aggressive tax planning strategy placed me at zero liability. No refund, either. Which is good. I hated having to pay every year.

The last time I had to pay a tax shortage instead of receiving a refund was about 30-35 years ago, when I listened to a financial advisor and then didn't follow through with the advice. Instead of filing an extra dependent, I filed zero. And with that, put the extra money in the bank, and wait for tax season. Then use the money that was in the bank to pay it, while keeping the interest it accrued. Instead of putting the money in the bank, I spent it. Doesn't work very well when you only do half the plan. LOL
