F150 Engine Air Filter Comparison
After only being a reader when needing advice from the forum, thought I'd pass on some info I was curious about comparing measurements of the stock square air filter with 2 cone type. (As if I flattened out the cone shape)
This is from roughly measuring the top media surface area only, no framing/edges or pleats of the OEM filter, a CAI Roush cone filter, and an aftermarket Spectre cone replacement for the Roush.
Since the Spectre looked a little smaller than the Roush I hoped it wasn't much smaller. Mostly though wanting to get a good guess whether either cone was more or less than the OEM square and hopefully a good replacement for the Roush.
OEM square_______ 74.25 sq in $17
Roush 997-466_____97 sq in. $100
Spectre HPR9606___90 sq in. $28
I realize there's more to the performance than a simple measurement like media type, number/size of pleats, oiled, but I had to start somewhere.
At least on the surface, the Spectre has more top area than the OEM.
