got a 292, need some input

Hey everybody. I have a 292 in a 1962 f-100. I would just like some general input about the engine. Ive been reading and it sounds like a great pulling motor and it runs and runs and runs (energizer engine). So far it has some conversion heads (dont know much about em, on the truck when i got it) so that it runs dual straight pipe exhausts . It also came with the adaptor so that you can use the screw on oil filters instead of the canister type (i think thats what they are called). My carb is goin also. I dont know what kind it is, and its not the stock. The manual choke dosent hook up. Its a 2bbl also. Any suggestions on what kind of carb to get?? Also i will be looking for stuff that will give me a mix of preformance and efficency. Im 15, so i have a lead foot and a small wallet . Thanx guys for all the help.

Look at "www.ford-y-block.com" and "www.y-blocksforevr.com". You can find great info on these sites and their links. I think that a Holley would work for your application. If I remember correctly you can get new ones that will look like the original carb and have the manual choke setup. You could, of course go with a Carter, Edelbrock, or Autolite. I think the Autolite would have come on that engine too and I have heard a lot of good things about them.
