Longevity mods…what’s next?
I have been quickly bitten by the mod bug but I am still focused on mods that’s firstly maintain the longevity of my truck. Mods so far have been:
- Tuner
- gauges
- downpipe
- turbo boota
- cold air intake
- GPR upgrade
Are there any other modifications that folks can think of that promote longevity or areas where Ford “missed the boat”?
thanks!
Good battery wires amd grounds are always a plus. I bought a tool to crime the ends on new cable.
that list looks good.
Not knowing what has been done mechanically or suspension wise get those sorted out first if you haven't already.
as for reliability mods I would add Intercooler to the list, rebuild turbo with the severe duty 360° kit and billet wheel, larger trans cooler if auto, valve springs.

*CX racing has a IC kit, Banks or you can DIY using super duty parts
* Trans cooler can be bought for an 05-07 super duty 6.0 power stroke, or a smaller but efficient cooler from a 99-07 super duty gasser.
*Comp Cam 910-16 valve springs
there's many good suppliers out there too many too remember.
Edit:

I would go with this, it’s proven to be pretty reliable for many folks around here. As long as you’re going to be doing the bearings then this would be best.
I have a stick so wouldn’t know much about the cooler.
I’ve used Full Force up pipes, they’re definitely on the cheaper end of things but I’ve done them on OBS and SD 7.3s and haven’t had any problems with alignment or anything!

This kit will get rid of the leaky pedestal and EBPV, best bang for the buck!

I tried to put a video together about pulling the turbo, it’ll take some special sockets but nothing too crazy. I also soaked the thing in PB Blaster for a week prior and used a little heat while breaking them loose.

Triple disc, low stall converter and a valve body kit. TransGo Tugger or the Fairbanks Power Tow 4R100 kit. Just did the PT4R100 and prefer it, did a Tugger years ago. Worked fine too.
