I have a 95 f-150 that won’t start the engine has spark and air but it won’t get fuel I have pulled both tanks and replaced the fuel pumps and cleaned the tanks and put in a new fuel filter but it still won’t get fuel I have also replaced the computer and it still won’t start.
You may want to look at the fuel pressure regulator. On my 89 it is the last thing the fuel goes through before hitting the fuel rail. (your 95 should be similar.) Not sure if taking it apart to inspect would be one path, the other option would simply be to replace it.
Just remembered that you may want to make sure the fuel pumps turn on when the ignition key is turned. The pumps should make some noise briefly as they get power. If the pumps are silent, you may have a bad relay. Hopefully, someone will be along here that will add detail on the power going to the pumps.
A fuel pressure gauge that screws into the schrader valve on the fuel rail can be a great diagnostic tool to assure proper fuel pressure to the injectors.
I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and the pumps make noise when I turn the key but it still won’t start if there is anything else that can cause the problem please let me know
The pumps do make noise for a couple seconds when I turn the key and it will run perfect off of starting fluid I will have to get a tester tomorrow and see if it has enough pressure
I have tested the fuel pressure and it is around 37 psi the injectors are working I have been through the whole wiring harness for them and made sure everything was right and it has spark the only thing I’m not sure about is if I have them on the distributor right I used a image off of google for the exact engine but it still won’t start
There are 2 different firing orders for the 5.0, Older 15426378 and the newer High Output firing order 13726548 which is the same for most 5.8. I say most, because there is a very slight chance that some dork like myself put an older 5.0 cam in their 5.8
Cylanders are number from front to back starting on the passenger side with 1 and the front drivers side is 5, on the distributor, you are going counter clockwise.
Correct firing order and wire routing for 1994 and up 5L engines and all 5.8L engines:
If the firing order was off it would not run with starting fluid.
You stated " the injectors are working I have been through the whole wiring harness for them and made sure everything was right", but I have no idea what that means. More details please.
If this truck has been sitting while they may be plugged up with old fuel and deposits. No matter have much pressure you have, and 37 PSI is too low for a 4.9L EFI engine, fuel will not flow through them when they are pulsed on. 45 to 65 PSI is what they are rated for. Crank the engine over a few times then pull out a spark plug to see if it is wet with fuel.
Thank you to everyone that gave me advice and help with the truck I have figured out the problem it was actually the ignition control module that was causing it not to start the truck starts and runs perfectly now
