i have a problem with the steering column that was recently put in my 1977 f-150 (auto/ 2wd). The shifting column seems to have shifted over and i have lost park and reverse. Is this fixable or a lost cause?
not sure what you mean, did the column portion that moves "slip" in relation to the shift tube inside?
i totally rebuilt my 78 F250 column a couple months ago...got everything needed from jeff's, i think it cost me about 100 in parts, and about 5 hours including r&i of column, and fitting a new borgeson steering shaft in as well. works as good as new now, and required no special tools at all. very simple.
Are you sure the column is at fault? You can adjust the shift linkage where it connects to the tranny, there is a slot so you can coordinate the detents in the tranny shifter arm with the gear positions in the column.
