Seized bed bolts

I just purchased a 1996 f150 with a long box and am having trouble getting at the bed bolts under the frame as they seem to all be seized or stripped, any tips?

They are carriage bolts. All of mine spun when I tried to remove the nut so I had to grind the heads off. Good luck.

Start with a 1/4 " drill bit dead center on head then go bigger until head pops off

weld large nuts to the top side of the bolt head.
I replaced them with hex head bolts instead.

I had to cut off the side of the heads of some of my bed bolts and had a friend grip them with vise grips while i was under the truck removing the nuts. There are newer style bolts available that feature a clip-style nut that slots onto the frame in the 6 locations needed. The bolts themselves are giant button head allen's. The bolt/clip-nut kit is pretty cheap on amazon/ebay. They are marketed for newer trucks, but work just fine.

You can try cutting a slot in the top of the head with a small die grinder and cutting wheel. I used a Dremel. Worked good for two of the bolts but the last one I had to weld a nut on top of it. Should've done that first to save the hassle.
