Replacing gaskets on my motor and I have timing chain exposed, so with me not knowing anything about his motor I decided im going to replace the timing chain as well sense im here.
there is slack, seems like a lot from videos I have seen. I don't know what kind of chain is on it, looks like ones in the videos I've watched who upgrade from stock. the truck is a 65' I don't know if its the original engine or not.
In a '65 the OEM V8 was a 352. If your engine is painted all blue and the paint looks like it was OEM, it is a '66 or later engine. Not uncommon to see swaps as there were billions served.
So if it has slack, it won't hurt you to replace it as long as you are in there. Be carefull with debris falling into the pan.

yeah it’s painted all blue, down to the oil pan and the only paint that has really lasted on the motor are the valve covers.
do you have a recommendation on what brand timing chain/ gear set to get?
