'21/'22 order timeline

Is there a thread showing wait times for ordering a new expedition? The wife is wanting a '22 and am wondering what lead times are or when they're gonna start building the '22s. I ordered my superduty last February and didn't get it until September. My dealer is actually saying 4-6 months on the expedition this time though. What's everyone seeing?

They told me 2 to 3 months for an Expedition or F150. Wife and I saw one on the lot that she liked and bought it that day. Sold my '17 F350 dually to a contractor a few months ago and he gave me what I paid for it 4-1/2 yrs ago. It's a '21 FX4 and I'm really liking it so far. Only had it a little over a month and using it for my daily driver. Getting around 19 mpg in combination driving and up to 23 mpg hwy depending on conditions. It's rated to tow 9,200 lbs with the max tow package. No plans to get another large 5th wheel so if we get another camper it will be in the 7K pound range. Some changes on the '22 Expedition but didn't want to wait that long and we ended up getting 5K off the sticker...not great but not as bad as the price on pickups. Good luck in this tough time to buy a new vehicle!

They Have started building the 22 model on Monday. I ordered mine on 11/19 and it is being built on the Feb 23rd. But my customers who ordered before me Have not received a build date yet . Seems like the limited trim level is in high demand . Mine is a Platinum.

are they offering the stealth performance package with the Platinums or is it exclusively on the limited trim?

Wish they offered a black out pkg for platinum. I'd go the spp route if bluecruise and massage seats were available for it.

Hmmm. Ford is saying winter 2022. So, not sure how you are getting one of the newly redesigned Expeditions. I think you are getting the old one and (although all the news articles are calling the redesign a '22) the new one will be a 2023 model. Note that Ford.com still has "2021" as the year available to build and the 2022 as "Future Vehicle".

If I were you, I'd get clarification. My wife said no no no no no to the 2021 as the interior is pretty much the same as my F350. She wants that big screen and that only comes with the redesign. I'll ping my Ford friends as ask.

Well Ford Authority site is indeed saying the new versions are open for order. So, it may be so. What's really whacked is that ford.com still has no ordering info for the 2022s and it says 2022s will be available winter of 2022. Waiting to hear back from my ford guy.

I'm the new car sales manager at my dealership and I know what products are coming out. I live in Louisville KY and these expeditions and superduty trucks are made about 12 miles away from our dealership . We have lots of ford employees as our customers and some of them are upper the higher ups at the plant .

There is a reason ford hasn't put up the build and price yet on the website . Infact even the Ford F150 is still a 2021 build and price. There are some internal things that have to fall in line for the build and price.

Here is a pic of one if the trial run units

All those units are test units and strictly not for sale. The covered units are all Lincoln Navigators ( Expeditions and Navigators are built on the same production lines) , they are not revealed yet to the world how they would look, in fact even the expeditions were all covered up until a week before this picture was taken. These vehicles would be put up for long term testing and research purposes, In fact the window sticker for these vehicles would not show any price and a watermark would be there even on the digital copy of the window sticker saying NOT FOR SALE.

So, are you saying they are available to order, or are NOT available to order.

They are available for order. Many people have put there order In months ago and already have build dates for their trucks. Right now, ford officially started "ok to buy" production on dealer orders for stocking purposes.

Good to know. I am surprised any non customer orders would even get prioritized. That means there isn't enough customer orders to keep up with demand. Given that other vehicles are not in that situation, i would assume chips are being prioritized for customer orders on f-series, Mach E and Explorers since there is basically no days supply to speak of.

I am still waiting on my buddy to get back with me. Just our of curiosity, are you guys honoring x-plan?

Thanks

Ugh. Just found out Blue Cruise is only available on the Platinum. Wife wants Stealth Performance Edition with Blue Cruise. Total bummer.
