just got back from a 1000 mile road trip in my 22 6.7 platinum 350
towing a 3500 trailer
truck not has 2200 miles
I noticed occasionally when coming to a stop a big thud noise coming from the transmission. It seem like it was when it was shifting from possibly 2nd to 1st gear.
Oh then found out on a few occasions that when I was using the exhaust brake and manual shifting down the gears I can replicate the sound by shifting it from 2nd to 1st. Like it doesn’t slip the transmission at all and just slammed in the gear
hate to have to bring it to the dealer already
anyone else have this issue on there new trucks?
Does do you also feel a jolt, almost like someone gently rear ended you? If so, I have experienced the same thing. It occurred maybe 5 times on my first 5000 mile cross country trip. I drive with the exhaust brake on and transmission on tow/haul mode (truck camper in the bed BTW). When it occurs I am stopping at a normal rate, not aggressively braking or anything.
My 450 did that a few times - from 3rd to 2nd. I only noticed it in tow mode but I think that’s because it usually skips second gear in normal mode. I purposely drove it for a while in tow mode with the engine brake on and it gradually smoothed out. I also was going to check with the dealer but now I cannot replicate it even manually shifting. Something to keep an eye on for sure.
