Engine shuts down when decelerating

It all came pretty fast one day I let off on the gas in a turn and the van motor just shut off like I turned the ignition switch off...started right up and not on every deceleration but always when I let off the gas to slow down it likes to just shut down....when starting cold it will rev on start and then shut down...several times before it will start....once running if I rev it it shuts down when I let off...and recently as I'm driving down the road at a constant speed it starts to slow down and I then press more and more on the gas pedal until finally when pressed almost all the way down it finally acknowledges what I'm, doing and starts going....New fuel filter...no change, filled filter with ATF and ran for a second to let sit over night...no change, changed camshaft/tac sensor...no change...any thoughts please. 1992 E-350 7.3 e4od

Subscribed, but want to throw this in jik. Seems I remember someone posted something similar here but I do not remover. The no response sounds like intermittent air/lack of fuel or maybe the trans isn't downshifting (linkage?/switch?) or maybe the converter is not releasing, if applicable.

Doesn't really have anything to do with the transmission....if in neutral and I press on gas and release quickly it will shut down like someone turned the ignition off....it doesn't stumble it just shuts off...I'll did in to some earlier post to see if I find someone who has had a similar issue...Cheers Benny

You have a sticky governor, time to do the ATF in the fuel filter trick and if that doesn't fix it (it usually does) then it's time to send the injection pump out for rebuilding. Running a diesel fuel treatment (such as diesel kleen or Howes lubricator) every few fill ups will also help stave off this issue.
