Not a big fan of chrome, but my big 2021 race red f250 fx4 has chrome wheels. Last week while looking over tires, noticed one wheel had a large spot where the chrome had flaked off. Called a service adviser at my dealer (the selling dealer) and he said when I bring it in this week for 15K service, they will get a picture or two and see if Ford will replace under warranty. No impact signs noticed. I have the tires and wheels add-on to my ESP, so it may get covered under that, but expect Ford to cover it under manufacturer's warranty.
Will see.
Does it look like this style? They are known for it. I had the dealer swap rims from another truck that had aluminum wheels as part of the deal. He said happens to all of that style.

The "Chrome" Ford uses on the SuperDuty wheels, is not really chrome, it is called PVD, and it's more like powder coating, not a plating process.
All it takes is a slightly dirty base surface for the PVD coating to not adhere properly.

No tire changes. Original tires. Otherwise no issues that I am aware of with the truck.

I have the same style on my 19 XLT. All 4 were flaking badly, my dealer replaced all 4 under warranty. I consider myself lucky!
I expect that they will warranty the wheel no problem, as this has been an ongoing issue with that coating for some time. What I'm interested to see is how long it takes for approval from Ford. I'm awaiting Ford approval for a different part, one that has clearly failed and no question that it was not caused by external damage. Pictures were submitted over 3 weeks ago and still no word.

Doesn't have anything to do with anything done to the wheel after it was coated before being installed at the factory, it is a problem with how the wheels are coated to begin with.
Nothing that the end user has done, nothing you did, it's a manufacturing defect.
Ford should warranty it with no issues.
I am currently going thru this with Ford but with black powder coated wheels.
The coating is peeling off right front and pitting on left front wheel. After 3 months
Ford agreed to replace one of them saying the pitted one was my fault, how I don't know.
The wheel came in last week and brought it in for replacement. Sat there for about two hours
until the Service Manager came to me to say we have a problem. He brings me in the back and shows me the new wheel
which looked like someone dragged it across a concrete floor. He says it doesn't look too bad and you probably
could compound it out. I looked at him and asked would you want this on your truck, no answer. I said I want another wheel
and asked him to inspect it before even calling me for another appointment. Now another wait.
Seems like I read somewhere NOT to use a chrome polish on these wheels. Nothing much more than a soft bristle brush and whatever soap you use on the paint will do.
And wash the road salt off of them every chance you get.

Well, PVD isn't chrome, so definitely don't use chrome polish. Chrome polish has abrasives and chemicals in it, and PVD is mostly like paint, so you clean it like painted stuff, polish it like that too.
