All I did with mine after I installed the new one was to let it sit for about 12 hours. Never did the reset procedure. I’ve never had an issue, it’s been 4 years now. However, many times when I drive it now it’s for no less than 20 minutes and often for 50 miles or more at a time. It doesn’t see many short trips anymore.
FWIW, My 2016 XLT, 302A pkg. F150, right at five years and 42K miles has the original AGM battery and still seems strong, tests good. Do I buy a new battery or order a new truck? JK Thanks to your daughter for her service. In your case, I would most likely replace the battery.
Side stories on batteries:
1. I replaced a battery at five years in my wife's DD as pm. That new replacement battery failed within six months.
2.1998 Explorer, purchased new, had battery failure prior to one year; replaced under warranty by Ford.

Looks like if BMS reset not carried out, the BMS may limit electrical functions. Sounds like based on your usage, haven't seen anything detrimental.
Thanks again guys, tons of great info here and as usual, I knew i was coming to the right place to solve my question.
My daughter Sarah bought this 2018 truck when she returned from her pat deployment. We negotiated a better deal than imaginable when that was still seemingly possible and expected. The truck has been amazing but it did need the cam phasers replaced under warranty. The dealer in GA was simply amazing to work with and they treated her l9ike she was their only customer.
She's a Captain in the Army and just as feisty as her old man, we have to teach our girls how to protect themselves. She bought a house in the Richmond HIlls area which is next door to Savannah. Pretty amazing area. She's assuming command of a maintenance company shortly after her return to Ft Stewart.
Needless to say, I'm just a little proud of her and I make to tell her. She's done all the right things right and I'll do what ever it takes to make her day just a little bit easier.
My daughter made it home safely which is the most important part of the story.
Instead of just rushing out to replace the battery, I took some advice on here and tested it. I needed a charge and after that was done, it tested perfect. The truck fired right up as if it had been run that same day even though it hadn't been run since May of 2021.
The truck does have an AGM battery in it so we'll wait to see what happens if anything.

Thanks to all who responded.
Tim glad to hear she's home safely.
On the battery, I've learned these AGMs (especially the OEM one) doesn't give much "warning" before they fail. I thought I was hearing slightly slower crank speed before mine went and couldn't start the truck.

Just something to think about.
The battery in my 2011 did the same thing so I agree, not much warning. This one definitely wasn't dragging so I left it.
Her truck has the start stop feature and a slew of electronics
I have a 2018 502A lariat. I leave my BMS plug permanently unplugged from the battery in order to keep the start/stop deactivated and battery fully charged.
I have a Ford AGM battery in my 2017 XLT. I started getting these warning messages to turn off the engine. I checked the voltage…it measured approx 12.7 volts. Under the old conditions that would be thought to be ok. Not anymore. That is now considered marginal. When talking to the dealer, the Agm battery will hold enough to start and then fail suddenly. So I replaced it with another fomoco battery. It was over 4-1/2 years old, which I thought was pretty good considering I live in the desert.
My daughters 2021 F150 Lariats' factory battery died Friday afternoon. Ford roadside cam out and jumped it. They after 15-20 minutes. She shut it off and it would not start again. So, she had to have the dealer tow it to dealership. Replaced the battery Saturday morning and picked it up later that afternoon. It was just a few weeks over 1 year old.
1 year old, or 1 year since she bought it? The Motorcraft batteries are hit and miss, very hit and miss. Maybe she will have good luck with the new one if it was a recent manufacture date.

Both. She bought the truck new. The first week of March 2021.
