Some help maybe
Hello everyone ,new to this forum. Stumbled across it this morning while checking on the Vintage Mustang Forum. Since it's a Ford truck site I thought I would post about my 97 F150.
A little info about me I'm a lifelong Ford guy. Presently i have a 67 Mustang vert i call her the money pit( my baby ), a 69 Fairlane fastback,a 66 Ranchero ( both project cars) & my 97 F150. Had it since 98
. Two years ago my F150 eng bit the dirt when I was getting it back on the road after about a 4 year rest.while at a pull a parts yard I ran across a 99 Navigator with a 5.4 DOHC, googled it & yes it fits my 97. Boy what a can of worms.
The eng swap kind of went crazy, I wound up with the 5,4 dohc , with a 2014 F150 6R80( among other things ) ran thru a Ford Raceing control pack. One bad *** truck after I finally found someone to tune it. Something happened with one or several of the injectors on the passenger side of the eng dumping gas down that side & burning off in the cat.
. I got sidetracked when I got my 67 vert 2 years ago, but have got the parts to try a redo on it. Have a new5.o coyote intake & throttle body , adaptors to bolt it on my heads along with everything else that I think might be needed . I'm more of an old school carb & pushrods guy so the EFI & ECMs are another world for me. I have found no one any where who might have any info they care to share about issues with my truck.
. I've had better luck getting help with the 2300 Holley Sniper efi on my 67 mustang 200 6 cyl.
Sorry about the long post but when you get to be my age you sometimes go off on a rant. Anyway I'll keep looking through post here in the future. Maybe I'll pick up something useful to me with one of my on going projects.
