Hi everyone, new member here from Maine. I've got a mix of old and new tech down in the garage. I daily drive a Mustang Mach-e, and have also got a 1999 Silverado with 297k miles on it. I'm not a big environmentalist or anything, but I am addicted to the low maintenance, instant torque and silence that comes with EVs. I was originally planning to trade the Mach-e in for the F150 Lightning when it comes out, sell the Silverado, and get some sort of classic with 3 pedals for a weekend fun car. The Lightning looks like a great vehicle, but after thinking hard I decided it wasn't the right fit for me.
Instead, I decided to say goodbye to the Silverado, add another Ford to the garage, and fill my occasional need for a truck with a bit more style. Just picked up a 1965 F-100 with 4 on the floor and a 406FE swap. She will do plenty of cruising and meetups, will never see snow, but will definitely be put to work. I owned a couple classics back in the 90s - a '72 F100 for a couple months, and a '72 Dodge Charger for a couple years, but that was mostly because I was a teenager with low funds and they were just cheap old cars back then. Now that I'm older (though not much wiser) this will be my first serious time caring for a classic. I have a lot to learn and a lot to relearn.
I'm not ready for a restoration project yet, so I looked for something that just needed a few minor fixes (think shocks, I beam bushings, broken speedometer, etc). Then it'll be time to start adding my own style. First thing there will be to replace those wheels with something more period appropriate.
Definitely looking forward to turning a wrench again!
