Okay, so if the back up camera is in the tailgate handle, near the top, how do you keep that function with a 5th wheel tailgate?
Or am I just so old skool that I don't get it, lol
How many here have one instead of the factory tailgate?
Hey Backtogas, I stripped the camera & harness out of the oem tailgate and modified the ID light blockoff to mount the camera. I also mounted 2 lights for extra stop lights. There is a blunt cut wire in the rear harness for use of high mount stop light when using a capper/shell.

Now that's what I'm talking about...yeah.
I was reading how tailgates are easy steal, but I know how to protect my 5th wheel TG.
I bought a replacement camera and cable and mounted it just below the V in the tailgate. I was very pleased that it works well with the 360 camera system. I have a very small area on each side where there is no coverage but nothing could really hide in this strip.

Were those ford parts or aftermarket? I was hoping the backup camera was wireless but it doesn't sound like it.

It has been awhile since I installed it but I believe it is the factory camera but is sold by another supplier. This is the one I bought but you probably won't like the price. They do have other camera options though.

I used a model of that camera on my 2016. You have to order for the exact vehicle though. The wiring loom is sometimes different for each model year. I have used my Rostra camera for 5 years now. They are a good company to deal with and will respond to email questions. I made a bracket out of aluminum angle to mount over the license plate and painted it black. You have to coil about 12 feet of extra cable and secure it with zip ties under the truck. It’s a plug and play camera for a little over $200.00 unless they’ve gone up.
Has anyone found a 5th wheel tailgate that will fit the 2020 superduty.
been looking and I can't find anyone who is making them.
sorry about that. Fat fingers
