I've recently got my "53 Mercury M100 started up but I'm having problems with a fast idle.
I'm running modern running gear... 5.0L/AOD from an '86
Lincoln Mark VII. It's up and running now but it's racing at idle. Not sure what the problem is, but sure would appreciate some assistance in trouble shooting.
I was talking to some buddies from my club (SOCP - Southern Ontario Classic Pickups - -'03-'66 Ford & Mercury Pickups) and they suggested it is probably a vacuum leak and I did remove the vacuum line to the powerbrake booster because of a problem without pluging the line ...so.... I'm going to check that out first/next.
