Abs module internal fault

Evening everyone, truck in question is an 09 f150 xl 2wd single cab short bed 4.6 2v. 180k miles. A little over a year ago I was down in the hospital with the coof and let my fiance drive my truck around since I didn't need it. She called me freaking out saying the abs, brake lights were on and the traction control was off. I instructed her to go to the oriellys I use and get one of them to scan for any abs faults. They didn't know how to work their own scanners I suppose because I found it in about 5 minutes.
B1342 (ecu) internal fault. And a service continuous memory code. No other codes. Drove perfectly fine just without traction control. I recently had a wheel hub start howling so i replaced it tonight. I had figured that it could've be a reason but to my surprise it didn't solve the abs fault.
scanning the ecu itself reveals no codes. So I deduce its isolated to the abs module itself.
I'm aware a new one has to be programmed to my vin # but can I get a new one and have it programmed then just swap it out? Or is this strictly a put it on the truck then have it programmed type of deal? And I'm talking about just the control module not the valve and pump. These things taking a dump seems lime a pretty common issue on 12th gens.
i appreciate any help.
