Does any member (non-vendor) have a Leer HF650 installed on their truck? I need your personal opinion on your overall satisfaction with the cover.
For members or vendors, one of the questions I have is water-tightness. Leer, understandably, doesn't say it's waterproof and that any cover will let water into the bed. I would like to keep my bedrug but I'm worried about mold/mildew if water does leak into the bed. Leer says due to their "superior water management system," their unit does not need drain tubes. Where does the water go? Does it not enter the rails at all? Does it rely on the factory rake to drain out? What if my truck is leveled out?
After looking at as many bed covers I can find, I believe I have narrowed my purchase to the Leer HF650. I don't think there is a bed cover out there except for the 1 piece hard ones that go over the sides that is completely water proof. You know the BAK brands expect water inside because they are installed with drain tubes to route outside of the bed. I feel the Leer cover has engineered a design that is as close to water proof as they can get. I feel it will be good except for the pressurized water from a car wash. No cover out there is immune to that type of water intrusion.
Thank you Hwk, I just watched their promo video. I like it, it looks sleek. Can it be secured in a partially open position (2/3 open) like other models?
I share your thoughts. What made me think twice is my two local Leer dealers told me they don't stock the 650 because customers have had many problems with their seals. They recommend the Leer 350 or MX4 instead. Unfortunately, there may be other reasons for their recommendation (profit margin/unit).

Yep. You can secure it folded over to the width of one panel or it has props to have it stand up like the Leer. It's not quite as slick in that the partially folded position requires a couple of short straps be clipped to the front, but they self store in the second panel, so it's just a matter of unclipping them from the storage spot and clipping to the front. I drive 40 miles with it that way on Monday while hauling a keg that I wanted to keep upright.
I will say that on my previous truck I just sold to my dad, I had the Diamondback for 6 years. That is a great cover. With the ability to stack 1500 lbs on the top of the cover and still have the tailgate open and close to get to the space under, I really liked that cover. When we moved our daughter to college, we had that thing loaded down. Looked a like the Beverly Hillbillies but we got the job done.
My thoughts for not getting another Diamondback is the fact these trucks are so tall, having the front section of the bed cover to open for front bed access will be completely unused as I would need a step ladder to reach in the bed at that point. I am thinking bed access will solely be from the rear. I still may talk myself into another Diamondback though. Very secure and strong. It's like a vault. We used it to lock valuables in when traveling with no worry about low lifes getting our stuff. See there, already talking myself into one.

Thank you Romark. The Diamondback certainly is a great cover but it's not what I'm looking for. Although, I'm all for the Beverly Hills hillbilly look
I just bought an F150, trading in a 2018 Colorado. I had the Leer 650 on the colorado with an adarac ladder rack and it was awesome, I had no issues with water leaks and I currently live in Texas and my house doesn’t have a garage. For those who don’t know, We get Hella rain in south Texas. I didn’t even have a weatherstrip seal installed around the tailgate. it did get a little wet right by th tailgate latches, but that wasn’t because of the Leer. it was my lack of tailgate seal.
I should go work for Leer, because I think this cover is the greatest thing ever. It is built very tough, I had it for a year and I am an IT contractor, i put tools and wire and all kinds of equipment in the bed and had no issues ever. I Love the way it latches as well. BTW, I did have it professionally installed. I recommend that. This is a Leer HF650 with an Adarac Track Rack.
This is my ‘23 F150 which will hopefully be getting the same setup.
