Hello all. As title says I am in search of a dash bezel for wife’s Ex. I was told that all 05 dashes were black? Not sure about that but minty happens to be black. Whoever installed the piece of crap stereo that was in it before butchered the job and cut the opening for the head unit. They rigged something up to make it fit but it’s bad. They also busted off a bunch of tabs and pins in the process. I had a new stereo installed for the wife but it is just rigged in there for now until I find another bezel. I have found tons of tan… etc on EBay and Craigslist. So far can’t find black. Anybody has one or knows where there is please let me know. As always, I appreciate it. Thank you
Buy what you can get and paint it black. Unless you find one from a salvage yard website (or go to the yard yourself), you won't find that part. Plastics on these are aging. They are getting very brittle. Mine has become quite fragile.
Thanks. Trolling EBay now. I was told that the super duty bezel will also work? I know that the ones with the airbag shutoff switch are different but are the other super duties the same? Thanks again.
Make sure that the pins/clips on the back are not broken off (this one seems fine). Also if the one you are replacing is black, you may want to transfer the black AC vents to the new one. Painting the vents is agonizing.
Thanks. I actually have that one saved in my eBay account. Have a question though…. Are the cutouts in the dash all the same. I have some different switches in my ‘05. For example …. Where the 4wd selector switch is my switch also has the rear defrost and backup sensor switches. Will that cutout work or will it need modified? Also, already thought about the vents. Mine are good and I will swap out. Thanks again.
It may snap into place, but,,,,,,,,, The Super Duty uses a different headlight switch, and 4x4 switch, and doesn't have the garage door for the far right power port.
So…. Can’t I just use all of my existing stuff in that dash? Meaning the garage door etc can just be transferred over? I hope because I just bought that dash along with paint and primer.
Looking at the Ebay listing pics more closely, it does indeed have the garage door cover for the power port, so you may be OK there, but the 4x4 switch and area, along with the headlight switch/opening appear that they will not work. The entire back square on your 4x4, park-aid, and read defrost is meant to snap out, depending on the options, (most all) had rear defrost, IE: 4x4, and or park-aid, the same square was used to house from 1-3 controls.
Ok. So seller agreed to cancel transaction. There are a couple of others that I am watching. Only problem is they don’t ever show pictures of the back. I need to see that it’s not all jacked up like mine before I drop $300 on one that I’m going to have to paint anyway. It’s a shame because the front of mine looks new.
