LoL....right right...I think if I race, at this point, it would have to be a slow take off. No popping the clutch.. Althought I would be losing some reaction time, I think I could overcome it later on.....I dunno...we will see....and if anyone wants to donate to the SC fund de Garrett, email me, its unlocked in my profile, LoL.
Both you guys are going to need a locking differential, no question about it, otherwise your just wasting your money on all that extra power. The locking diff alone is not that expensive.
Also, Strick, you can't be missing gears whilst boosting. You can and will blow your motor. You must make sure you hit every gear. If you miss a gear while boosting and hit the rev limiter, your done.
Also, you cannot, at any time, hit the rev limiter or speed limiter while boosting. You WILL need that tack. If you hit either one of those limiters and your ignition drops a spark on a cylinder, then re-ignites it on the second time around, that cylinder will be full of excess nitrous and gas. When that ignites.....B BOOOM! Forgetaboutit. Automatics are much safer when running nitrous because there are no miss shifts or rev limiters to worry about.
I'm going to do the install with you via email. When you buy the kit, I'll take 50 pictures of the entire install process and send you a big email.
Just be careful with the shifting and the limiters.
I know that the differentials are not that expensive, but installation is. If you can find me a way to install for waaaaay cheap, let me know I am thinking about the Protrax <sp> No slip differential. Need some more info, but I think thats the way to go.
Oh really? Hmm...Maybe I will look into it a bit more. Its the Powertrax No-Slip differential. I asked in the transmission forum, just waiting on some feedback. I guess I need to find a good shop in the area and ask them.
That would be great if I had a 4-spd Tom. Hehehe, Thanks for looking out. I dunno if Larsen would work on my non-racetrack truck though, I will check into it.
tom, would it help if i didnt put the trigger on the accelerator................maybe a button or something so i can hit it once i make my changes......just a thought?????
Its also my understanding that there are 28 spline and 31 spline. I dunno exactly what that means, but I hear spline means teeth.. So, i hear that 31 spline is for the HD trucks and SCREWs, and the smaller boys are 28...how do we tell with our 4.2s?
Do you concur Garrett?
Garrett: "Concur with what sir?"
Joseph: "That we're all nuts of course..."
Garrett: "What's a nut?"
Joseph: "..."
Garrett: "Did I miss something or what?"
Joseph: "It's ok Garrett...it's ok." -pats Garrett on the back-
BTW, what are horizon huskies? You've got me interested...
