I noticed I paid a bit more for DEF @ the pump for the first time in 5 years the last time I topped off the tank. I wonder if that was in anticipation of this shortage?

A simple software fix could solve this problem...

Says the guy with a stock truck. I love it!

Just bought some DEF today at Tractor Supply. $9.99 for 2.5 gallons. Wal-Mart used to sell theirs for that but I believe it's up to $12.99 . Wal-Mart's been out of it the last few times I've checked.

Walmart Supertech 2.5g was $6.99 for the longest time and is up to $7.99 now... but sold out locally and online. If you found 2.5g for $9.99 at TS, that's a good deal Dave. I don't need any currently but bought a couple 2.5's of a different brand on Walmart online for 28 delivered. If Supertech comes back in stock, I will have wasted a couple bucks but I grabbed it just in case. China shutting down exporting urea has played hell with DEF and fertilizer companies.

Man, you got it cheap at Wal-Mart but remember I live in a state of taxation.

I first went to Auto Zone and I bought two of their brand (only two out but not a lot of shelf room) for $12.99 each (2.5g). With tax, brought it up to just under 30 bucks.

Then went to TS. They had a good amount on the shelf. Never bought it there before. So yeah I thought
that was a good deal too since Wally World hasn't sold their Super Tech brand locally here for 9.99 in awhile. I bought 4 boxes.

I already had 2 full Motorcraft 2.5 gal bottles. I'm going to keep those once I use the fluid inside as I found the Motorcraft nozzle leaked with the other brand bottles that I bought. I'll just pour the DEF into the Ford bottles and be good to go when need be. I have all the bottles in my basement where it stays cool and dark.

A lot of people don't agree with buying excess and storing DEF. I've always had a prepper attitude when it comes to things. But I thought I'll keep an eye on supply/prices and respond accordingly. I'm just wondering if we'll see rising prices and possible shortages. Either way, I'm set for well into the next year.

I'd say I have a year covered too now Dave as my truck doesn't rack up many miles yearly. My tank as about full and 5 gallons is landing by way of FedEx today. I wouldn't want to go much further out than that.

Yeah I probably won't buy much more if any. My tank was filled next too long ago.. About 1k miles ago. I get anywhere from 5k to 6k miles from a tank of DEF. I figure keeping it in the basement where it's cool will keep the fluid good I figure.

Hopefully in the next year I can find some T6 and DEF. I never thought I'd live in a world where a recent oil change and a full DEF tank would increase my trade in value...LOL

paid about $3.39 or so per gallon for DEF at a place where I live that has it at the pump, seems to be about $1.00 more than I can ever remember paying for it before at said station, if it isn't one thing it's another, filled up before I left because the sensors claimed it was below half, will make sure I keep an extra 2.5 gallons or so on me from now on, not something I've done in the past, I'm not going to go into panic buy mode, but a little planning in case it does get stupid

The US gov't is short sighted, and China capitalizes on it. US EPA mandates cleaner diesel, which brings about SCR systems using DEF. Then instead of ramping up production of UREA in the US, we rely on buying from Xi. Now they can pretty much shutdown our economy taking all the newer freight truckers off the road, shutdown excavating machines for construction of various projects, and who knows what else.

I bought a jug of Walmart brand DEF today, off the shelf. It was one of three on the shelf (same brand). One of the other two had a broken seal. The other one had a crust of dried DEF. I bought the one that was clean and intact.

The local Ace Hardware had a few jugs of the Blue DEF on the shelf this week.
