Ever since I bought my '68 F250 it was hard to start, and became even more so as the temperatures went down recently.
Sometimes I would have to crank until the battery almost was empty.
Putting some gasoline or brake cleaner into the barrels seemed to make it easier.
Today I was checking the float level (wet), it was 3,33 cm (ca. 1 1/3 inches)
Probably that would not produce enough fuel pressure for starting.
Since the engine was not running I blew air through the fuel hose to check when the float would close, bend the float higher and then add fuel until it would close again.
Repeated 2 or 3 times until I reached a wet fluid level of 2,39 cm (ca. 0.940 inches)
Started the engine a few times cold, then warm and found it to be much better, engine starts within 1-2 seconds now.
Well, learned a lesson today ~ I rebuilt the front end on 2001 F150 4x4 ~ had and alignment ~ the tires were noisy from the loose front end days ~ had the front wheels balanced hoping it would help ~ it made a big difference ~ now the tires are twice as noisy ```
The Reunel step bumper was a crusty mess so it received a refresh on Sunday. Ever wonder why there are so many people from South Dakota in Baja? There aren't, South Dakota is one of several states that allow you to title your vehicle there wiut having set foot in the state. 70,000 vehicles wear SD plates that reside somewhere.
i have a 69 f250 that needs a front bumper. the guy i bought it from tried to push another truck with the front bumper and totally hashed it. a Bambi bumper would be nice.
