We're ~three years into the 7.3. Other than the initial spark plug wire issue and the front crank seal, what other issues have been reported or experienced by owners of the 7.3?

Seems I recall there were some early issues with some little thing that squirted oil up onto the backsides of the pistons. There were some manufacturing issues with that? In fact all 7.3L issues to my knowledge have been QC parts manufacturing problems and no design/engineering issues at all. Keep it simple and overbuild it seems to be a viable philosophy.

I think there have been more issues resolved with the 10 speed transmission than the 7.3L

I think ford programming is the issue with the pause when you punch the throttle. The 6.7 suffers from this if you are heavy footed. The computer just goes blank when you try to blast power.

 

My diesel pretty much fell on it's face when stomping on the throttle from a stand still. I think about half of it was waiting for the turbo to spool up. My 7.3 just spins the tires and launches itself.
