It goes on the "s" terminal of the alternator. There may or may not be a white/black wire on the "s" terminal. If there is, just splice into it. If not, just hook the choke straight to the "s" terminal.

Didn't your original carb have that connector & the part that it runs to? Does your distributor have a vacuum advance canister & hose?

I'm not familiar with Carter, but I think your new carb is the feedback version & that connector gives the computer control over the air bleed for fine tuning the mixture. This was the lead-up to fuel injection.

I ran a Motorcraft-version feedback carb for over 10 years without the computer operating the air bleed.....it didn't create any problem. The tuning done by the computer is so fine that it is pretty insignificant; the mixture will default to the rich end of it's range without computer input, but that is still not 'rich'.

I just saw on your profile that you have a '74 truck.....is this it? If so, that carb certainly won't be getting any computer input.

Like Ken mentioned, we don't know what you are working on. If you have a computer controlled 300 six, then there are special circumstances for that. The choke wire location will still work, but you may have way more problems than that. What year is this truck? Like Ken asked, do you have a vacuum line going to the distributor? Or does it just have a rectangle plastic module on the side of it.

That looks like a feed back carb and if he ordered it for his year truck then the dist. will not have a vacuum line / canister as it would be feed back system also.
He should have checked in with us and we could have started him down the path of mom-feed back system LOL

Think I was trying to type it before 1 of 3 kittens we are fostering climbed up my leg for the 100th time

Do you listen to my wife about the dish washer
I tell her I am not opening the door for every item because when the door falls off she will have to wash the dishes by hand
Build up in the sink, open the door 1 time and the door will not fall off as fast LOL
