Could you post up a picture or many of what you are dealing with?
When I took mine out to swap into a different truck I took the whole dash with vents (AC dash) and wiring harness as 1 part. It went into the other truck the same way.
This is it sitting in the parts truck. I had to do some repairs to the dash plastic part before it was installed in my truck.
Broken dash
Fixed dash
Painted with SEM paint made for this

Thanks on the dash.
It has been many years since I did the dash and the truck has been on the road for 2 years now but I thing there are 2 bolts on each ens to the trucks post area and a brace in the center to the fire wall. Think there are screws across the windshield in the defroster slots.
When I took my trucks a part I put everything in baggies marked what they were for and how many.
So if there were 6 screws across the windshield it was marked 6 screws top of dash.
5 for the main dash to truck 2 each side 1 center to firewall.
This was done for everything

That would work, I'll have to do that when I get a replacement dash and support, the f150 I'm working on has a dash but not the supporting plastic underneath the wiring is just laying out there with nothing supporting it. An old man gave me the truck after I helped take out the 251c and c6 tranny, I'm gonna to try to restore it a lariat not much rust.
Just know there is a difference between AC and Non_AC plastic dash parts. Vents for AC no vents for the other.
The metal frames I believe are all the same.
Wiring lays across the top of the dash as seen in my pictures.
